As a physician working in primary care for the past 25 years, the changes in healthcare are nothing short of a revolution.  Healthcare has been taken over by business, and it is no longer about patients and practitioners, but about employers and insurers, neither of whom should be involved in the process.  We need a simple system that will allow every person in the state or the country to have affordable, quality, accessible healthcare, that is portable, that is not connected to employment, that covers all necessary procedures without financial obstacles, and where the money is spent on healthcare, not on advertising, corporate overhead, middle management, and paperwork.

The only system that creates this scenario, and maintains cost controls and quality is a single payer universal system.  It gains economy of scale that is unmatched by any insurance product. It allows practitioners to get back to the practice of medicine, allows patients open access to any licensed facility or practitioner, and guarantees that the money we pay for healthcare is spent on healthcare.

The market has shown to be an abysmal failure in healthcare, and each year we increase our uninsured by millions across the country--increasing costs exponentially.  It is time to end the insanity.
